QR Hydrofull Wetsuit Demo
Sorry everyone, the wrong time was announced. The demo will be from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Hope you can all still make it!
Join us this Thursday, January 31st, at 6:30pm for a QR Hydrofull Wetsuit Demo in the Naperville North High School Pool. David Fix (Endure It! Founder) and James "Mac" McEneaney (QR Representative) will be on hand with demo suits of all sizes for you to try on and try out in North's pool.
This will be the second time Endure It! has given everyone an opportunity like this, but it's the first time that a wetsuit company (in this case Quintana Roo) has had an unbeatable purchase program. QR Hydrofull's are available for $250 (normally $400) when you bring in your old wetsuit to exchange. In fact, you can bring in any wetsuit (surfing, diving, or triathlon) and still get a brand new QR Hydrofull from Endure It! for $250. Endure It! has suits in stock, but the program is only running until February 29th.
If you have any questions about the demo night or the wetsuit purchase program, please call Endure It! at 630-305-6771. We hope to see you on Thursday!
Best Regards,
The Endure It! Staff

The 2008 season is here and I would like to take this time to make a few important announcements. I would also like to thank everyone who attended the last club meeting, I feel it was one of our best and gives us plenty to work for. We have a very enthusiastic membership and I deeply look forward to all the work it will take to get the club to a level we would all like to see.

If there is a large group of members participating in an event I am unaware of please let me know.
*The road racing team is currently working on their focus list and will be announced soon.
GALENA 2008
The Galena Triathlon has been mentioned by Triathlete Magazine as one of the countries best sprint triathlons. When the weather cooperates, this race is an absolute blast, challenging, organized, and a beautiful course. I would really like to get our entire club to participate in this season opener. Many other area clubs have a strong turnout for this and it lends itself to another fun aspect of the race.
With that in mind please sign up asap!. This race will fill up early and many members were surprised and disappointed by not getting into tri-shark. Galena is a great early season race to test your fitness and show what a great club we are!
Horribly Hilly Registration!
Registration begins Tomorrow the 19th at 9:00am and will fill up right away!!!
The HH event is truly one of the most challenging days you will get on a bike. The endure it! club recognizes this event as a fantastic way to challenge yourself, raise your fitness, and have a blast in the process. This year endure it! would love to get as many members do this ride as possible and have already booked a small number of rooms to for our members at a great nearby hotel for pre and post ride meeting shenanigans. This is an event that our training committee will help organize and I am again encouraging everyone to participate.
Club Renewals
The 2008 club renewal fee is $20.00. Please stop by endure it! and pick up your endure it! club long sleeve technical T from sport science complimentary with your renewal. The renewal process will be go through March. In order to receive all the benefits of the club membership you need to keep it active year to year.
Club Committees
The club will be relying this year on many of it's members to help develop, organize, and communicate as an enhancement for everyone. Below is a list of the committees we decided to form as well as a description of the responsibilities. If you would like to volunteer for one or more please respond to dan@endureitsports.com so we may get all of you in touch with each other and so you may get to work fight away. Many of you volunteered at the meeting, but I would like you to respond to Dan as well so we have updated emails. I hope you all find time in your schedule to help out and support as best you can.
Training Committee:
Will help organize many of the group training events including, Madison trips, Barrington rides, track workouts, group rides and runs, and other special events such as Horribly Hilly and Dairy Land Dare.
Membership Committee:
Designing club uniforms, gathering similar interests and data from fellow members for further communication and relationship building, renewal ideas, working with vendors for ordering new club product.
Education Committee:
Organizing guest speakers for the monthly meetings.
Communications Committee:
Working with Tom organizing announcements, newsletters, web and forum development.
Here is a great list of local events.Click here to download the file.
Thanks and I really am looking forward to a great year!

QR Wetsuit Promotion
A small amount of retailers across the country have been asked to participate in a wetsuit promotion by Quintana Roo. Endure It! is selling the QR Hydrofull Wetsuit with a $150 credit if you bring in the chest panel of any other wetsuit. The Hydrofull typically sells for $400. Bring in a chest panel of any wetsuit (triathlon, scuba, surfing, etc...) and you can purchase the Hydrofull for $250.
From the Quintana Roo website: "The Hydrofull has always represented the most technically advanced wetsuit for its price in the marketplace. The New Hydrofull utilizing technologies found in the New Supersuit: Patent pending VPB (virtual pull buoy) Technology giving additional and body centerline buoyancy aiding efficient stroke and velocity in the water. Full type 39 SCS Neoprene with Nanoskin chest panel with the lowest drag co-efficient of .026 and newly designed shoulder panels to aid flexibility. The Hydrofull also benefits from the QR exclusive breakaway zipper to save those precious wasted seconds in transition."
What all this means is that if you take advantage of the promotion, you're not going to find a better wetsuit for $250.
The promotion is currently running through February 28th. After the end of February, the Hydrofull (if we have any left) will be regularly marked at $400. Call to set up a fitting appointment in the Endless Pool or if you know your size stop in anytime. Whatever you decide, time is of the essence. We have a limited number of these suits and I don't expect they will be in stock too long.

Scheduling in the New Year by Jenny Garrison
With a New Year come new resolutions. We are all to blame for them. But I think the most common resolution among triathletes is to “start TRAINING again.” Somehow insinuating that we have stopped training and need to workout. For most people this is not the case. They are working out occasionally but need a little structure and scheduling to get motivated. I want to give you a few ideas that have worked for me over the years with balancing work, family, and sleep.
1. Have a routine that you maintain week to week. For example, on Mondays you swim in the morning and bike at night every week.
2. Be flexible with your routine. If you are stuck at work late move days around for this week. If you oversleep for the pool, try getting a quick run in.
3. Create your week around your key workouts. For example, your goal for the year is to PR in the Olympic distance. So you need to get in speed work for all three sports. Those workouts are key, and then the others are filling in. Try to use the days in b/w as recovery workouts. If your goal is to gain more power than your strength sessions are key.
4. Write short term and long term goals on note cards and stick them on your fridge. A short term goal might be to get in 3 solid swims every week. A long term goal might be to finish an Ironman by 2010. They can be more specific down to placing in the top 30% of your age group at a race or breaking a certain time in your 10k run. But seeing them everyday will remind you why you are sticking to your schedule.
5. Find or enlist a training partner. I find the best way to get motivated especially in the winter is to have someone there for you. I know if I am getting up at 4:30am to run that I can’t turn over in bed because there is someone waiting for me. That is the best motivation.
6. Put your schedule together on a spreadsheet or write it down. Post in on the fridge for your family to see so they will know where you are at all times. And be more supportive as a result because they will feel more involved.
7. Pick a day off and stick to it. I find it is easy to skip a day off and use it as a “swim day.” Taking that day off is not just for a physical rest but for a mental rest as well. Let yourself sleep in once a week or once every two weeks. Your body and your family will enjoy the extra rest.
I hope this helps. Good luck with your season!

Tri Shark Reminder
Registration for Tri Shark is Tomorrow Morning at 10:00 am! and it will sell out fast.
The 2008 version of TRI Shark is scheduled for June 7th 2008. This is an excellent event that I would like our entire Endure It! Club to participate in if possible! The race is fun, well run, and a team competition! It would be fantastic if we could make an early season statement with participation as well as results.
The Endure It! team will have more news about the event as the season approaches but in the meantime you must keep in mind this race fills up quicker than a Hannah Montana concert so please be on the terminal ready to go at 9:59am and don't forget to register as a member of the Endure It! team.
Here is the link you will need:http://tri-shark.org/web/TriSharkOrg2/Index.aspx
Thanks and I look forward to a great 2008 season for all of the endure it! team members.
Best Regards,
David Fix

January Meeting
The Endure It! Club is coming up on the completion of it's first year and I believe it is important to begin planning for the 2008 events.
The next Endure It! Club meeting will be held January 9th at 7:00 pm. We will not be having a guest speaker for the meeting, instead I would like to focus on a few items I feel are crucial to the development of the club. As you know everyone who joined the Endure It! Club filled out a form asking what they wanted from the club. The two most popular responses were education and group training. With this in mind I would like to set up two volunteer committees to help with this crucial aspect of the club development. Each committee needs a handful of members willing to work together sharing the load with all of the Endure It! Staff and resources so we may continue to proudly offer a fantastic club.
The education committee would be responsible for lining up the monthly guest speakers. This would include experts on endurance sports topics, nutrition, training, injury prevention, local experts, etc.
The second committee would be in charge of planning a few "off site" group events. A few ideas that have been brought to my attention have included, redoing the spring Barrington ride, organizing a group for the horribly hilly event, one or two Madison trips. More importantly we would be looking for more off site ideas and execution as well.
The other topic to cover is the "club focus racing schedule". This will be events and races were we will try and have a large club presence with as much support as possible, car, tents, sustenance, banners etc.
The Endure It! Club got off to a fantastic start but it has become very clear to me that in order to improve and develop we need to pull more members for assistance. I am often given great ideas from members on many topics for events for training, racing, or other and the truth is many fall to the side because we don't have the ability to dedicate the time to making them all happen. The club volunteers would be working together with Dan and myself to ensure all of Endure It's resources and abilities are available for the members.
The goal for the Endure It! Club remains for it to become the premier club of its kind and I think we are off to a fantastic start but of course this lofty goal will require a substantial group effort.
Thanks again for your support and I look forward to seeing everyone on the 9th particularly those who have been so willing to suggest what would be a great idea! Now is your time!
Best Regards,
David Fix
