January Meeting
The Endure It! Club is coming up on the completion of it's first year and I believe it is important to begin planning for the 2008 events.
The next Endure It! Club meeting will be held January 9th at 7:00 pm. We will not be having a guest speaker for the meeting, instead I would like to focus on a few items I feel are crucial to the development of the club. As you know everyone who joined the Endure It! Club filled out a form asking what they wanted from the club. The two most popular responses were education and group training. With this in mind I would like to set up two volunteer committees to help with this crucial aspect of the club development. Each committee needs a handful of members willing to work together sharing the load with all of the Endure It! Staff and resources so we may continue to proudly offer a fantastic club.
The education committee would be responsible for lining up the monthly guest speakers. This would include experts on endurance sports topics, nutrition, training, injury prevention, local experts, etc.
The second committee would be in charge of planning a few "off site" group events. A few ideas that have been brought to my attention have included, redoing the spring Barrington ride, organizing a group for the horribly hilly event, one or two Madison trips. More importantly we would be looking for more off site ideas and execution as well.
The other topic to cover is the "club focus racing schedule". This will be events and races were we will try and have a large club presence with as much support as possible, car, tents, sustenance, banners etc.
The Endure It! Club got off to a fantastic start but it has become very clear to me that in order to improve and develop we need to pull more members for assistance. I am often given great ideas from members on many topics for events for training, racing, or other and the truth is many fall to the side because we don't have the ability to dedicate the time to making them all happen. The club volunteers would be working together with Dan and myself to ensure all of Endure It's resources and abilities are available for the members.
The goal for the Endure It! Club remains for it to become the premier club of its kind and I think we are off to a fantastic start but of course this lofty goal will require a substantial group effort.
Thanks again for your support and I look forward to seeing everyone on the 9th particularly those who have been so willing to suggest what would be a great idea! Now is your time!
Best Regards,
