Endure It! Spring '08 Product Review
Just a quick reminder before we get too far. Kris Hartner from Naperville Running Company will be speaking tonight at Endure It! beginning at 7pm. Hope you all can make it.
It's been a while since Endure It! has done a product review, but we have a lot of fun putting these together and figured it's about time to do one for the new season.
First Endurance Multi-V
Retail Price: $46.00
Club Price: $41.40
We have carried Multi-V for over a year now, and find ourselves re-stocking our supply at least once a month. Unlike your typical multi-vitamin First Endurance has added ingredients specifically designed to address nutritional requirements of endurance athletes. Multi-V is clinically proven to enhance endurance and improve carbohydrate utilization. This safe, legal, and stimulant free all-in-one vitamin contains ORAC antioxidants, Ginkgo Biloba, Green Tea and fruit extracts and your 100% of 17 vitamins and minerals.
Hammer Nutrition: Recoverite
Retail Price: $45.00
Club Price: $40.50
Recoverite has been our most popular recovery mix since day one. Unlike many products on the market, Hammer Nutrition uses only natural ingredients and never adds artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners; wheat, gluten, excess simple sugars, stimulants or anything unhealthy. Recoverite replenishes what your body needs after any workout: a 3:1 ratio of Complex carbs to pure whey protein isolate, 3 grams of L-Glutamine, and plenty electrolytes. If you don’t feel 100% recovered simply come back to endure it for a complementary 30 minute massage from Drew.
Optygen & Optygen HP
Retail Price: $49.95 & $74.95
Club Price: $45.00 & $67.45
It seems that those who have ever used Optygen swear by it. Another product by First Endurance, Optygen’s formula is based on human clinical trials and the latest scientific research on increasing endurance. Increase the body’s ability to adapt to high levels of physical stress, increase VO2 Max, improves the body’s ability to utilize oxygen more efficiently, increase anaerobic threshold, and reduce lactic acid.
Spiuk Kronos
Retail Price: $229.00
Club Price: 206.10
Weight: 390 grams
Simply stated - the sharpest aero helmet on the market. This is the same helmet design and technology used by the Caisse d’Epargne/Illes Balears ProTour team. According to Cervelo wind tunnel tests at MIT wearing a non-aero helmet vs. an aero helmet is worth 4 times the amount of drag when compared to non-aero vs. aero wheels. When 80% of your body heat expired from your head it’s important to vent! The Kronos has 2 slice-vents in front which funnel airflow through the helmet while maintaining maximum aerodynamic integrity.
Cateye V3 Triple Wireless Computer
Retail Price: $180
Club Price: $162
Since opening the doors at Endure It! we have experimented with what seems like dozens of cycling computers and heart rate monitors. Cateye finally released a wireless computer which measures speed, cadence, and heart rate with pinpoint accuracy. The sleek design is cleaner, smaller, and lighter than any other computer triple wireless computer on the market. The V3 even includes a heart rate strap and for those of you multi-linguists, a 7 language handbook. (Jason or Drew will install it if you don’t know what gebruiksaanwijzingen means).
Yankz – Race Laces
Retail Price: $8.00
Club Price: $7.00
The Yankz shoe lace system offers a “set and forget” everyday convenience. Ideal for race day, Yankz will save you precious seconds in your bike to run transition. Never tie your shoes again…lace up your racing flats, training shoes, formal evening shoes/heels, or bike mechanic shoes with custom Endure It Yankz! They come in dozens of colors and styles, come grab a few pairs while they last.
ISM Adamo Saddle
Retail Price: $155
Club Price: $139.50
Some ISM sponsored athletes include Laura Bennett, David Blanco, and Hillary Biscay. The ISM saddle does not restrict blood flow to the legs, and perhaps more importantly preserves sexuality and prevents erectile dysfunction! If it’s good enough for Endure It’s 45-49 national age group champion, Dave Irion to split 5:12:27 (21.5mph), the 28th fastest overall bike split at Ironman Wisconsin, it’s good enough for me.
Cerevelo Soloist Team
Retail Price: $2000
If Ian Thrope rode a bike, it’d be the Cervelo Team Soloist. Quite possibly the hottest road bike at Endure It! during April. They’re selling like hotcakes! “It's the fastest, most-storied $2300 bike in the world (actually, it's US$ 2000-red). It explodes off your pedal strokes with that instantaneous acceleration, but it also keeps on rocketing ahead after your booster phase, as if a free tailwind was thrown in with your purchase.” - Bicycling Magazine
If "awesomeist" was a word, we'd use it to describe the '09 Orbea Orca's. Why an '09 at the beginning of the '08 season? We'll have to ask the Pyrenees.
Pinarello Prince
Bombproof and water resistant up to 500 meters. Maximum attainable wattage: 4500w.
Finally, Come check out all the brand new styles and brands of 2008 triathlon and cycling gear.
