Endure It! Club Athlete of the Month

kevinLange.JPGEndure It club member Kevin Lange embarked on his journey as a cyclist in 2003. Like many Endure It family members, Kevin is a phenomenal athlete. Unique to Kevin is the journey that brought him here.
The fifty year old powerhouse was born and raised in the LaGrange-Clarendon Hills area. Kevin attended Hinsdale South high school where he swam for 4 years. He was a state record holder his junior and senior years, and was a high school All American. During his 4 years at South, Kevin met his wife Kathleen. They have been married for 27 years. Although Kevin thought that suckering Kathleen into marrying him would be one of the toughest battles he'd ever fight, he was mistaken.
After high school, Kevin joined his family's business as an excavating contractor. During this time, he fought and won a courageous battle with cancer. Defeating the disease was one of the catalysts that prodded him towards early retirement in 2001. With a new lease on life, Kevin found himself with more time to pursue his passions.
Lange continues to swim and has held numerous masters swim records. In 2005, his 200 free relay broke the national record. He shares his passion and knowledge for the sport as one of the assistant coaches for Naperville Central's girls swim team.
2010 will mark Kevin's 25th year as a cancer survivor. He plans on celebrating the milestone with many century rides, a few sprint triathlons, the Alcatraz shark swim in June, Big Shoulders, and some good solid training at Endure It!
